Among the very few families who to date continue with the ancient practice of Ayurvedic Medicine in Sri Lanka, “ Pallewela Kadum Bidum” is uniquely inherited for nearly 400 years by the Waidyarathne Family. Grasping their own unique healing science of Ayurveda, the family of dedicated and skilled Ayurvedic practitioners’ specialises in Musculoskeletal Disorders and Orthopaedics and continues to offer herbal medicine, pastes, decoctions, therapeutic oils and other healing products, with the inside knowledge and healing secrets only unique to the Waidyarathne Family.The family legacy that was brought forward by Dr. Lewis Waidyarathne was first commercialised and made known among the public by his son Dr. Thobias Waidyarathne.
Belonging to the 9th generation of the Pallewela family inheritance, Dr. Thobias has been famously loved by many as “Pallewela Wedhamahathaya”. Taking over from his Father, late Dr. Ranjith expanded the family services to Colombo where his wife – Dr. M. Waidayarathne continues to practice at present. Dr. Bhagya Waidyaratne – Son of Dr. Ranjith and Dr. Dulshani Waidyarathne – Daughter of Dr. Ranjith, who now belongs to the 11th generation in the history of the family tree, offers healing Ayurvedic treatments in both Sri Lanka and Australia at present. Starting from a small village, the Waidyarathne Family has managed to establish an outstanding reputation both locally and internationally.
